Visit the Historic Victoria Battery
The Historic Victoria Battery site is accessible to the public every day and site access is free.
Situated in the Karangahake Gorge approximately 8km from Waihi with access from either the Waikino Railway Station car park or Waitewheta Rd. The plant was built to crush ore from Waihi’s Martha Goldmine.
The site can be explored at anytime but there is a charge for the train ride, museum and kiln tunnels – when they’re open.
