Judges will be chomping their way through thousands of pies tomorrow searching for New Zealand's best pie for the Bakel's New Zealand Supreme Pie Awards and Waihi's Banana Pepper has entered five pies to test the taste buds of the judges.
Last year Banana Pepper won a Bronze Award for their Spinach and Feta Gourmet Pie and although they've only been running the business for about four months since taking over from Therese and Ernie Bailey, new owners Bernie and Alan Woodford along with their team have been busy preparing their entries. Bernie will be delivering the Banana Pepper Pies to Auckland today ready for the 'taste off' tomorrow.
This year the pies they've entered are ... drum roll please!
No matter what the result is, the regulars to Banana Pepper know how good their pies taste. And all of the pies that have been entered are on the menu at Banana Pepper, so you can judge for yourself.
Good luck Banana Pepper!
