But Wait, There Are More Scammers At Work

But wait there's more ... SCAMMERS at work! We've had an email through warning of a telephone scam. If you get rung by someone saying they're a telephone technician conducting tests on your line and they'd like you to key in the numbers nine (9) and zero (0) followed by the hash key (#) and then hang up, hang up on them before you key in the numbers and the hash key. DO NOT push 9 0 #.

Apparently keying in these numbers followed by the hash key will allow the person at the other end of the phone full access to your telephone account, meaning they can rack up long distance phone calls that will be charged to your account.

And be careful with emails from banks too. Banks don't send you emails asking you to click a link. If you get an email from a Bank make sure you don't respond to it. You're better off to phone the bank concerned or call into a branch and let them know you've received an email like this.
