It's official. Tamati Coffey and his team are coming to Waihi on the 17th of May to broadcast the weather live on TV One's 'Breakfast' show. He's coming to town in conjunction with the Government initiative to find New Zealand's oldest TV and educate us all on how easy it is to convert even the oldest TV to digital. They're going to three different spots around New Zealand and Waihi is lucky enough to be one of them.
The broadcasts will be done from the Pumphouse with the Waihi Memorial Hall being used for back up in case it rains.TVNZ is hoping to get as many locals as possible to turn up, and hopefully some of them will bring along their ancient TV sets. If you have one, dig it out and give us a call so that we can tell them you're coming. You could win a flash new 46 inch digital TV!
