Eastern Waikato Police investigating a fire at a Netherton home early yesterday morning and the discovery of a man's body inside do not believe the incidents were suspicious.
Waikato Field Crime Services Supervisor, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said a post-mortem carried out in Auckland this morning had identified a cause of death and investigators no longer considered it suspicious.
"The matter has been reported to the Coroner who will determine that cause.
"In relation to the fire itself, Fire Service investigators' have identified a likely seat of the fire and cause which again we don't consider suspicious."
Mr Whitehead said the focus for the enquiry team now was establishing the identity of the deceased and to be able to notify the dead man's family.
"The priority for the investigation team now is to be to do this and we will not be in a position to comment on his identity until such time as we have done this."
