There'll be plenty to do in Waihi town throughout October during the annual Go Waihi Goldfest celebration.

Here's a sample.

The Girl Guides "Hollywood Ball" is the first event on the programme. Kids from 9 to 14 can dress up and have a great time on the 1st of October at the Waihi Memorial Hall. Show starts at 6 pm and goes through until 10 pm. For the cost of a $10 ticket the kids will be treated to music, entertainment and food will be provided as well. The funds raised for the night will go towards a Girl Guides Jamboree planned next year.

The Go Waihi Trolley Derby with the Waihi Lions will be racing down Haszard St on Saturday the 8th of October. If you'd like to enter a trolley get in touch with Brian at Go Waihi on 07 863 3030, or download an entry form from www.waihi.org.nz, or www.goldfm.co.nz

There'll also be a market day along Seddon St, so if you'd like to register for a stall contact Go Waihi as space will be limited.

The "Natives Are Coming" ... back to the Waihi Memorial Hall for the New Zealand native gecko display. Gold FM sponsors the display which is a great opportunity for visitors and locals to get up close and personal with some of New Zealand's unique lizards. The reptiles will be on show outside the Waihi Memorial Hall on Seddon St.

You'll be able to pan for gold outside the Waihi Memorial Hall again this year with Newmont Waihi Gold.

The Ngati Waihi Youth Club will be holding a series of Maori carving work shops and taiaha lessons with other activities planned as well, so keep an eye out on our website and listen to Gold FM for more details as they come in.
