You could have been forgiven for thinking you'd walked into a star studded Hollywood awards night if you saw the excitement at the Waihi Memorial Hall last Saturday night.
The red carpet had been laid out, the posh frocks and glitter were there and hair had been done into elaborate 'doos'.
The Waihi Girl Guides turned on the glitz and glamour for tweens and teens to give them a chance to shine like a star for the night.
Organiser Meshell Rickard said the Hollywood Ball was a great success and Go Waihi co ordinator Brian Gentil said the ball was a great event to kick off Goldfest and fitted the Goldfest brief perfectly. Rule # 1 is to have fun, and it's great to see the Waihi Girl Guides entering into the spirit of Goldfest and holding an event for the young.
