Drink driving is an ongoing problem in and around our district with police reporting that males between the ages of 40 and 50 years old seem to be the main offenders. On Saturday night a male was charged with drink driving after he was apprehended for getting into his car and driving just 400 metres down the road to his home.He was 2 and a half times over the legal alcohol limit.
Another male driver has also been charged with offences after he lost control of his vehicle on Beach Rd just before midnight last Friday and crashed through a farmer's fence. The man was 2 times over the legal alcohol limit.
Police have said they have zero tolerance to drink driving so think very carefully before getting into a vehicle and driving after you've been drinking.
