The Waihi Beach Lifeguard Services had a good turn out of local, and not so local businesses for the Go Waihi BA5 (Business After Five) meeting last night. It was an opportunity for Waihi business owners to take a tour of the club premises and hear about their exciting plans for the coming summer season. The club has had a bit of a facelift in recent months and the building with million dollar views, right on the beach, is one of, if not the biggest lifeguard services buildings in the country.
New members are always welcome to join, and the club offer a range of sponsorship packages that allow companies to have a visual presence at the club and on their promotional material.
If you'd like to become a member, or a sponsor you can email Julz at info@waihibeachlifeguards.co.nz or give her a call on 07 863 5108.
Don't forget the annual Polar Plunge is on this Sunday. This event is a fund raiser for the surf club and for just $2 you can get amongst it and join the other brave brass monkeys for a chilly dip.
Meet at the Waihi Beach Lifeguard Services Club on the beach at 10 am ready to take the plunge at about 10.30 am. Get a bunch of mates or the family together and challenge each other. Don't forget to get creative and raid the dress up box, because you could win a prize for wearing a crazy zany get up. The skimpiest dressed male and female will also be in the running for a prize. The mind boggles!
You'll be able to warm up with a warm shower and a drink at the surf club afterwards.
ps: If you're 'too chicken to take the plunge' you're still invited to get along and make a donation to the club.
