The Waihi Police were in the right place at the right time last Tuesday when a man was assaulted in Seddon Street. The man responsible for the assault was arrested, bailed and appears in court today.

Then on the Tuesday evening the Police responded to what Senior Sergeant Rex Knight described as a "bizarre incident" when three men visited a house in Clarke Street and used a baseball bat to smash windows at a house to intimidate an occupant. Three males from Waihi, all in their twenties, were arrested and taken through to appear in the Hamilton District Court because of the serious nature of their offense. They are now out on bail with conditions.

A number of bail breaches have occured in Waihi recently. In two cases the breaches related to persons not being where they were supposed to be according to their bail conditions. Another man breached his conditions when he contacted a person he shouldn't have. Senior Sergeant Rex Knight said the Police check bail conditions are being met and when they're breached the court is notified so that the judge can take it into consideration.

Burglaries are still occuring and Rex Knight reitterated that "burglars and thieves wouldn't thrive if it weren't for receivers". A DVD was stolen from a Mueller Street property and a TV was taken from a bach in Marine Avenue at Waihi Beach.

Waihi College is also being targeted quite regularly by thieves and Rex Knight said the Police are closely following the case.
