Waihi Surf Club Under 19's Do Well At Winter Surf Boat Series

The Waihi Beach Surf Lifeguard Service under 19's crew Jack Kingsford, Dave Grant, Josh Williamson and Carl Blythe had a successful weekend competing in Orewa in the third round of the winter surf boat series.
Out of the five races they entered they won one and were placed second in three others.
Dan Harris, life member and coach of the under 19 men, said he's pleased with the result this early in the season because they needed a ring in to cover for head rower Luke Kingsford, who was away captaining the Thames Valley Rugby team.
Dan said the season's just beginning to heat up and the under 19's will be picking up their training schedule as they've got a few more events to go yet.
The next surf boat winter series event will be held in Orewa on Sunday, September the 18th.
