After our interview with Rosemary Segedin, spokesperson from Earth Watch Whangamata and Coromandel Watch Dog this morning, Newmont Waihi Gold's External Affairs Manager Sefton Darby responded by saying "it's not Schedule 4", "it's not threatening frogs", "it's not poisonous drill fluids", and "if I sit here in this studio and tell you a lie, there's the Ministry of Economic Development, the Hauraki District Council, the Waikato Regional Council and the Department of Conservation who would all have a really big issue with me lying. The impact for me lying would be that we could lose access to the site and we could not carry out our exploration programme".
