The Waihi Volunteer Fire Service hosted the annual Waihi Pole Trophy Tournament at Morgan Park last weekend.
Firemen from Matamata, Silverdale, Coromandel, Te Aroha, Morrinsville and Paeroa set up camp for the day with friends and family and got busy doing their darndest to be the 'hottest' team on the day.
The day is great for camaraderie amongst the fire service personnel and every station puts it pride out there to win the coveted Waihi Pole Trophy.
Unfortunately Waihi wasn't able to put in a competitive team this year. And we hear they're on the look-out for enthusiastic volunteer firemen to put through the ropes.
It takes a special sort of person with the right attitude and skills to be accepted, so if you think you've got what it takes why not contact them and have a chat.
This year the trophy was hoisted aloft by the Silverdale team, so it's all on for next year's challenge.
