Hauraki District Mayor John Tregidga talks to Brian Gentil each Wednesday at 7.45 am.
This week he said he was surprised by the large area of Waihi that Newmont Waihi Gold is proposing to include in it's coming resource consent application. He said it is far larger than he ever thought.
The council has been working to finalise it's Draft Long Term District Plan which covers the 2012 to 2022 period and John explained the process.
