Police are asking for people who visited a property holding a garage sale outside Paeroa on the Paero-Kopu Rd (SH26) over Waitangi weekend to contact them

A man from the property was arrested after a search was conducted by Police on Wednesday. Several power tools and bicycles were recovered from the address but the Thames Police believe there may have been more goods stolen and would like to hear from the public so that they can build a picture of the level of offending that took place.

A retailer who became suspicious of the arrested man's activities took his registration and reported it to the Police which led to him being apprehended. The man was also caught taking power tools from a Thames hardware store on CCTV.

The Thames Police are hoping that people who innocently bought goods from the garage sale the man held will come forward, so that items can be returned to their rightful owners.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact Constable Barry Steward at the Thames Police Station on 867 9600 or via the Thames Police email address thames@police.govt.nz
