An elderly man missing overnight near Whangamata has been located by searchers this morning.
Waikato Police Search and Rescue Coordinator, Constable Dave Pitchford, said the 84-year-old man was found about 1.5km from his Opoutere home shortly after 8am.
"The man was wet and had all the appearances of having spent a cold night out in the elements and having been in water at some time.
"Taken to the Whangamata Medical Centre for a check up we hope to have him returned to the care of his family shortly. At this Point Police would like to express their gratitude to all the Search and Rescue volunteers and members of the public who assisted with the search who have played a part in the incident's successful outcome."
