Mobil Waihi Targeted By Armed Intruders

Waihi Police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Waihi Mobil petrol station this morning. A staff member was getting the station ready to open when she was accosted by three men wearing balaclavas at around 6am.

Senior Sergeant Rex Knight said the incident is quite disturbing as the men were armed with pistols and threatened the sole female attendant. Luckily the worker was not harmed. Mr Knight said the attempt "constitutes an aggravated robbery and is right up there in terms of offending".

Shortly after, an armed hold up was reported in Katikati. Details are still sketchy at this stage and the Bay of Plenty Police are working on that case.
