The female motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car on a Coromandel highway yesterday has been identified.
Sergeant Jim Corbett of the Thames Strategic Traffic Unit said the woman was 51-year-old Sandra Joy EVANS of Dairy Flat, Auckland.
"Ms EVANS had been riding with a male partner, who was a short distance ahead of her, when it appears she crossed the centre-line into the path of an oncoming car.
"Earlier today we appealed for any independent witnesses who saw what occurred to contact Police, as a result of media coverage on the crash a person has come forward who outlined what they saw which is in line with our initial assessments."
Mr Corbett said the investigation into the crash, being conducted by the Waikato Serious Crash Unit was continuing and Ms EVANS' death has been reported to the Coroner.
