Sefton Darby, the External Affairs Manager from Newmont Waihi Gold gave his view this morning on the protest that occurred in Waihi yesterday.
Most of the people involved came from out of town including Green MP Catherine Delahunty.
They met at the Legacy Centre on Moresby Avenue, spent some time on the slope below the mine truck display and then marched up Moresby Avenue to the mining company's office.
Sefton Darby accepted petitions that were handed to him and thanked the protesters for their peaceful protest.
Here's what Sefton had to say about what happened after he'd had a little time to reflect on the event.
