Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Seddon Street area overnight last night to cast their minds back in case they noticed anything suspicious.
Thieves broke into the Waihi Memorial Hall last night, or early this morning, and made off with food and drink that was being readied for Waihi identity Shirley Spurr's funeral today.
Koru Florist & Gallery, a little further along the road, was also visited by thieves who left a mess behind them. They tagged, they stole and they left a lot of distraught people in their wake.
Police are still investigating whether the two robberies are related.
If you hear anything please contact the Waihi Police on 863 8179. Or you can ring the anonymous Crime Stoppers free phone on 0800 555 111.
Hopefully the CCTV security cameras in town will have picked something up. We'll keep you up to date with developments.

Reflecting on an incident free holiday weekend Waikato Police are both congratulating drivers and urging them to keep their eye on the ball as young students return to school over the next two days. They're reminding drivers to keep their eyes peeled as kids excited about going back to school and seeing friends can be easily distracted and make mistakes going to or coming home from school.
District Road Policing Manager, Inspector Leo Tooman says "often one of the biggest problems occurs when parents are dropping their children off at school and trying to get as close to the school gates as possible. If they're running late for work they will often double park creating even more congestion then there are others who drop the kids off then try and do a U-turn in front of other cars and on-coming school buses. It's a big wide world out there for five-year-olds and can all be a bit much so we're asking drivers to keep an eye out for these younger road users. There are signposted 40km/h school speed zones, adhere to them and please also remember the speed limit for passing a school bus picking up or dropping off passengers is 20km/h no matter if you are on urban or rural roads".
And while motorists were being asked to put their minds towards preventative road safety strategies Mr Tooman said it was timely to remind people there was another holiday weekend ahead.
