The Waihi Dahlia Show went off without a hitch last Wednesday. Eager Dahlia enthusiasts arrived early at the St James Presbyterian Hall in Rosemont Road and unloaded their precious cargo. There were blooms of all sorts of colours, shapes and sizes on show.
A variety of different cut flowers were on display as well, alongside vegetables.
Organiser Jennifer Chappel said she was very pleased with the turn-out this year as some categories had a lot more entries. The vege category entries tripled and the cut flowers section increased by 20 vases this year.
Local exhibitors did well with Doreen Casey, Pam Mercer, Jennifer Chappel, M. Bluett, and Ian Robinson winning a mixture of vegetable, flower and Dahlia categories.
Supreme winners Graham and Rona Attwood from Huapai won several categories.
