CCTV upgrade for Waihi CBD

Posted 12 October 2017 by Gold FM in Council Matters

Monitoring the Waihi CBD is set to increase. Hauraki District Mayor John Tregidga says upgraded CCTV cameras are in the process of being installed.

CCTV cameras have become a very important and sophisticated crime prevention tool. The Council operates CCTV cameras throughout the District and has a CCTV policy that determines how the camera system is operated.

The Hauraki District Council also supports the Waihi Community Patrol, a voluntary organisation that acts as extra eyes and ears for local Police.
Mayor Tregidga says he and Waihi Ward Chair Max McLean intend to meet with local Police and the Waihi Community Patrol in the near future to determine if any further assistance can be provided to these organisations.
