It was bittersweet news recently for Etta James fans to hear that she'd passed away. The 73 year old blues/soul diva had been sick for a long time suffering from Alzheimers, Leukemia and Hepatitus C, so she's in a much better place now.
She had a tough life as a child and was a popular singing attraction at the St Paul Baptist Church in Los Angeles as a five year old.
She won six Grammys and numerous Blues Music Awards, was an inductee into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame, The Blues Hall Of Fame and The Grammys Hall Of Fame.
When Etta James belted out a song you had to take notice. The size and power of her voice came from deep within her and when she sang a song she 'owned' it.
