Council Matters
Hauraki District ratepayers will see some changes to their rates after 1 July 2019.
According to the council the changes have come about for two reasons - an average non-water rates increase of 5.7 per cent set by Hauraki District Council in its 2019-2020 Annual Plan, and new property valuations set by Quotable Value throughout the district last year.
Examples of upcoming changes to rates:
Rates for a $121,000 commercial and industrial property, for example, will drop 4.2 per cent in Waihi, drop 3.2 per cent in Paeroa, and increase 5.1 per cent in the Plains Ward.
However, rates for a residential property worth $555,000 in the Paeroa and Plains Wards will rise 11.3 per cent, and increase 10.8 per cent in Waihi.
Rates for a rural property worth $550,000 will increase 0.8 per cent in Paeroa and the Plains, and increase 0.1 per cent in Waihi.
