Emergency Services ,
Moe Stevens, Chief Fire Officer with Waihi Fire and Rescue caught up with Brian Gentil on the Breakfast Show and brought us up to speed with the five call outs they attended over the last week. Moe also mentioned the new fire truck would hopefully be arriving later this week, after a slight delay.
Last Tuesday at 1.30 pm they went to a Wrigley Street address after a report of smoke. It was a controlled burn off in Bradford St, on the other side of the railway lines and all under control.
Later at 11.45 pm they were called out again for a medical assist.
Last Thursday, May 16 the siren went off at 1.30 pm for a call out to State Highway 2, just south of Woodlands Rd, where a vehicle travelling north had rolled. The woman driver was taken to hospital.
Friday May 17 at 7.30 am it was off to a suspicious house fire in Garrick Robinson Place. The fire was out by the time the firefighters arrived but police and fire investigators are looking into the cause.
And on Sunday May 19 at around 4 pm they headed to Waihi Beach to assist with a single car crash that had rolled just on the other side of the Wilson Rd shops, near Snell Crescent. The male driver was not badly injured but needed assistance to get out of the car.
