A celebration of life, love and friendship will be filling the Waihi Rugby Club this Saturday as a community throws a blanket of love around newly married locals Claire and Brad Nightingale.
Theirs is a love story tinged with sadness and wrapped firmly with hope for their future together.
Claire’s recent second opinion diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer, after her stomach pain was initially diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome, ushered in a regime of treatment and challenges for Claire and Brad.
Waihi Rugby Club set up a GIVEALITTLE page which has received over $26,000 in donations and the giving keeps on coming.
Friends rallied and chipped in to renovate the couple’s bedroom, kitchen and deck in time for Claire’s homecoming from hospital last week.
Waihi’s heart of gold shone through for this local couple whose wedding plans went ahead last Saturday. The venue and wedding planning for the nuptial festivities was donated by Waihi Waterlily Gardens.
A Gala Night at the Waihi Rugby Club on Kenny Street is happening this Saturday night, kicking off at 6.30 pm. Tickets, auctions and raffles will raise more funds to go towards Claire’s treatment. Claire needs lifesaving medical treatments for unfunded drugs including Cetuximab.
