Brian Gentil and Steve Warren, the President of the Waihi Association Football Club, covered all the results of the games played, and one that wasn’t played, over the weekend.
First up Steve ran through the junior football results and the Waihi College sides games too. The Waihi men had a home game on Saturday, playing Ngaruawahia. In the first round they lost 6 – 1, this time they won, 2 – 1. Congratulations!
Steve reviewed the game saying they didn’t fade as they have in the past and the team were really pleased with their win.
The Waihi Women unfortunately had too many players sick and unavailable so didn’t travel to Ngaruawahia for their game, defaulting this week. Hopefully they can muster the numbers next weekend for their last game of the regular season.
Steve also covered the Community Shield match between Liverpool and Manchester City, with City winning on penalties.
The Chatham Cup is down to the semi finals, and Steve had all the results. Then they talked a bit about the Scottish Premier League that got underway over the weekend, and ended talking about football’s most expensive player, Harry McGuire, previously from Leicester and transferred for $80m to Manchester United.
