It was a busy week for Marcus Howie, the Thames Valley RFU Rugby Development Officer, culminating with the Thames Valley Secondary Schools Finals at Paeroa Domain on Saturday. Marcus ran through these results to kick his report off, with some very close games. Congratulations to all the teams that made the finals.

Secondary Schools Finals Results:

Coulter Cup 1st XV Final;
Hauraki Plains 18 - Mercury Bay 17

L. Berry Cup Under 15 A Final;
Waihi 58 - Coromandel 27

Allan Fisher Cup 1st XV B Final;
Waihi 19 - Paeroa 17

Bob Passey Cup Under 15B Final;
Hauraki Plains 22 - Te Aroha 17

Then it was on to the Premiership and Championship games across the country with some interesting, and unexpected results.
Canterbury lost their second game in a row and is bottom of the table. And Otago held on to the Ranfurly Shield against Southland, winning 41 – 22, while Bay of Plenty was too strong for Waikato, beating them 40 - 14.

Brian and Marcus moved on to the Black Ferns game against Australia’s Wallaroos, which they won 37 – 8. And The Championship ended with South Africa beating Argentina 24 – 18, while the All Blacks quietened their doubters with a 36 – 0 win over Australia, with Steve Hansen marking his 100th test as coach.
