After a week of settled weather over Aotearoa we head into the start of this week with a change to more Spring-like conditions.
MetService meteorologist Andy Best comments, “An active cold front moving up the South Island today is forecast to deliver heavy rain and generate strong winds over many parts of the island.
A front is expected to move east over the North Island Tuesday morning bringing a burst of heavy rain.
There is a moderate risk of thunderstorms associated with this front from Waitomo north to Northland and also for Coromandel Peninsula and the Bay of Plenty. These storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, 10 to 25mm per hour.
