The National Party has confirmed Scott Simpson as its Coromandel candidate for next year’s General Election.
“I’m really looking forward to the campaign. Coromandel is the best electorate in New Zealand and it’s a great privilege to have been re-selected by the National Party as candidate,” says Scott Simpson.
“Many of the big issues confronting New Zealand are very evident here.
Representing Coromandel people in our Parliament is an honour and I’ll continue to fight for them and for our region.
In politics, it doesn’t pay to take anything for granted and I certainly won’t be.
The past two years have been about holding the Government to account on the issues that matter.
I’ll be working hard to help get a National led Government re-elected next year.”
Scott Simpson was first elected Coromandel MP in 2011. He served as a Minister outside cabinet before the formation of the Labour-led coalition and he is currently the National Party Spokesperson for the Environment and Climate Change.
“Every election is important. We are fortunate to live in a functioning democracy but there are some very urgent issues facing us as a nation and I’m determined to ensure Coromandel’s voice is heard in the solutions of those issues”.
