Brian Gentil caught up with Marcus Howie, the Thames Valley RFU Rugby Development Officer to run through all the games on around the country, and a few that have been cancelled at the Rugby World Cup.
The Thames Valley Legends were first up with their game on Saturday as the curtain raiser in Te Kuiti for the King Country V Swamp Foxes game.
Brian and Marcus worked their way through the Heartland Competition games, with Marcus saying if Thames Valley wins they could end up with a home game in the playoffs.
The Premiership and Championship matches were all covered across the county next, with Waikato playing Wellington away, and Canterbury, who won the Ranfurly Shield last week beating Otago, hosting North Harbour. Marcus says Canterbury will win by 10, while Brian has backed the boys from the North Shore and North Island to win by 7 or more.
The Rugby World Cup games came under scrutiny too, with several games cancelled because of the cyclone that’s near Japan creating winds up to 270 km/hr. That means the All Blacks won’t get to play Italy, and finish top of their pool. As to who we’ll play in the first of the knockout rounds - that will become clear this weekend.
