For bang on entertainment don’t miss The Pink Hammer, by the Waihi Drama Society. There are just three more shows left at the Boyd Road Theatre in Waihi.
We’d been hearing such good reports about the set, the acting and the storyline that we decided last minute to head along to last night’s performance of a true Kiwi comedy. The humour and twists made for a thoroughly good night out. It was impressive and well worth the $20 ticket price.
They even have a bar license for this production, so the audience can wet their whistle with a good variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic refreshments at interlude.
Directed by Geraldine Broderick, the cast of *Tracey Carter* - Siobhan, who has perfected an Irish lilt and character, *Linda Haines* - Helen, a forthright woman we probably all know, Louise - *Lucy James*, who took on her timid role boldly, Annabel - *Anne Preddy*, who doesn’t take sh** from anyone but brings it and gives it, and the solo male Woody - *Matt Anderson*, a first timer who played the part like an old hand, nailed their performances.
Expect a little bit of Kiwi slang (the sort we’re all familiar with, unless we’ve led an extremely sheltered life).
Tickets are available at Waihi Stationery on Seddon Street for tonight and tomorrow nights 7 pm performances and the curtain comes down finally with a matinee at 4 pm Sunday. Tickets are also available on the door.
Congratulations to Waihi Drama Society and everyone involved for a very professional, entertaining show. There’s even a spot prize given away at each performance, so keep your ticket handy for the lucky number draw.
