The deadline for entries into this year’s ARTWaikino exhibition is coming up fast. Artists, crafts people, photographers and sculptors from near and far have until Saturday, October 19 to get their entries in.
Art will be everywhere you look at the historic Victoria Hall at Waikino this Labour Weekend and it will be helping to keep the Victoria Hall maintained for the community. Proceeds from the exhibition are used to make sure the hall can keep its doors open well into the future.
Victoria Hall has hosted many memorable community events over the years from balls and weddings to funerals and market days. In 1981 it survived a huge torrent of water that literally picked up the Waikino business district including homes, washing them downstream through the Karangahake Gorge when the Ohinemuri River flooded.
Hosting ARTWaikino for the 19th year is just one of Victoria Halls stories and thanks to the generosity of the volunteers who roll their sleeves up to do the manual work needed and those that contribute by organising events like ARTWaikino to raise funds there will be plenty more stories to tell.
Entries can be downloaded on our website or email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Nola 021 220 9565 for full entry details.
A $750 cash prize is offered for the ARTWaikino Supreme winner this year. Five categories also have first and runner up prizes awarded at the Meet the Judges Wine & Cheese evening from 6.30 pm Friday October 25. Tickets are available by contacting this year’s ARTWaikino convenor Nola. See her details above.
Doors open for the public to see and purchase art from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday October 26 - Monday October 28
