Marcus Howie, the Thames Valley RFU Rugby Development Officer, ran on to the field with the Thames Valley Legends and their game against King Country on Saturday, and ended up with a 33 all draw for his, and the rest of the team’s efforts. There were even a couple of 60 plus players who took part.
When Marcus caught up with Brian Gentil this morning he had the result of the Thames Valley Under 14’w 2in against Central Bay of Plenty Under 15’s side, 24 – 19.
Then it was on to the Heartland Competiton results in the last round robin weekend of play. Thames Valley had a good win to take out that comp, beating King Country 37 – 15.
The quarter finals see Thames Valley at home against Wanganui and North Otago hosting Wairarapa Bush playing for the Meads Cup, while the Lochore Cup has West Coast at home to Poverty Bay and Buller hosting South Canterbury.
Marcus then worked through all the results of the Premiership and Championship games with good wins to Wellington over Waikato, Northland surprise winners over Otago and Canterbury too strong for North Harbour, retaining the Ranfurly Shield across summer.
To end the report Marcus and Brian looked into the Rugby World Cup with some games cancelled due to the Typhoon in Japan. The quarterfinals are set to start this weekend with the All Blacks taking on Ireland. You can hear all the other games in the report.
