Recycling Week is all about encouraging New Zealanders to be conscious about their procurement and disposal practices and adopt effective recycling habits in order to create a waste free future for New Zealand.
Now in its 8th year, an increasing number of business and schools are having fun and learning a lot by proactively taking part in Recycling Week.
Each day of Recycling Week features an easy to remember theme that will challenge and encourage you to re-think your recycling habits.
When we buy a product we also buy any waste associated with the product. We are all responsible for waste. It starts with us. It ends with us.
We may be perceived as clean and green by the rest of the world, but we have significant problems in NZ. In New Zealand we discard 15.5 million tonnes of waste each year. That is 3,200kg for every kiwi! Right now we only recycle 28% of this waste.
