Brian Gentil spoke with Marilyn Parker, Secretary of the Waihi A & P Association, to find out about their show happening on Saturday November 16.
This will be the 81st time Waihi’s agricultural heritage is celebrated.
Marilyn has served the Waihi A & P Association for 45 years this year so we’re tipping our hats to her for her dedication.
There may still be an opportunity to have a stall if you’d like one. Contact Marilyn asap by emailing email@example.com or phone 07 863 8243.
Mycoplasma bovis has caused major problems for A & P Shows around the country with dairy cattle and calf clubs unable to bring their stock to the show. Pet lambs and kid goats are more than welcome and this year preschoolers are welcome to enter their lambs and kid goats too.
A period dress side saddle category has been included this year along with many other equestian events and a Grand Parade is happening this year too.
Marilyn went through some of the different events happening on the day at the Waihi A & P Showgrounds on State Highway 2.
The Waihi A & P Show offers a great opportunity for families to interact with animals up close and to watch horses and riders navigating courses.
Pony and donkey rides, a roaming magician, petting zoo, hobby horses, gumboot throwing and other activities offer activities for the family to interact with.
The Grand Parade happens at 1.30 pm and the Lucky Gate Draw is happening at 2.30 pm. You must be on the grounds to claim your prize if you win.
There will be plenty to eat and drink at the Waihi A & P Show so families can take along what they need to be comfortable on the grounds and make a day of it.
