Marcus Howie, the Thames Valley RFU Rugby Development Officer, started out by saying he was slowly getting over the All Blacks loss in the Rugby World Cup last weekend and getting on with life … with a bit of a sad sigh.
There is plenty of rugby happening which Marcus and Brian covered, like the Provincial Union Seven’s Tournament in Whangamata on Saturday November 23, which will feature some great teams competing from Auckland and the likes.
Marcus also talked about the Men’s Club Seven’s Tournament being hosted by Waihi next weekend at their club in Kenny St, Waihi.
And tomorrow, Saturday 2 November, Brett Ranga will lead the New Zealand Heartland team out as Captain when they play New Zealand Marist at Boyd Park with kick off at 2 pm.
Then it was on to the two games left in the Rugby World Cup and the All Blacks playing for 3rd and 4th against Wales, coached by Kiwi Warren Gatland, who’s taking on the Waikato Chiefs coaching job this coming season.
The final of the RWC is tomorrow, Saturday night between South Africa and England. Brian and Marcus paid tribute to the players who will be taking the field for the AB’s for the last time, and also the two coaches, Steve Hansen and Warren Gatland, who both step down after this game.
