Ngatea detour roads being repaired

Since Ngatea town roadworks closed a section of State Highway 25, Hauraki District Council and NZ Transport Agency have been closely monitoring the detour route for road faults due to the increase in traffic.

Two stretches of road have been identified with potential road damage so roading teams are working to get the road shipshape for the start of the long weekend.

The first area, from the State Highway 2, Captain Cook end of Hauraki Road, will be repaired tomorrow, Thursday 23 January. Both lanes will be open.

The second area is in the urban part of Hauraki Road. Those repairs will be done on Friday morning, from 5 am. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place.

Motorists could experience delays while the repair work is being done to keep Hauraki Road viable as a detour route for the duration of the roading project in Ngatea.
