Back for another season, Marcus Howie, Thames Valley Rugby Union Rugby Development Officer caught up with Brian Gentil for the first report for the year.

Super Rugby kicks off tonight with the Chiefs visiting the Blues at Eden Park and Marcus has a win picked for the Chiefs by 7.

Brian’s put his neck on the line with a 10 plus score in the Chiefs favour. With a lot of player and coach changes in the off season it’s anyone’s game Marcus says.

All the teams start even on points and it’s a long season ahead.

Marcus and Brian ran through all the games across the weekend, including the New Zealand teams.

The Crusaders play a home game at Trafalgar Park in Nelson against the Waratahs, the Stormers have the home ground advantage with the Hurricanes travelling to Newlands for their game, and the Highlanders have a bye.

Marcus and Brian also touched on Damien McKenzie, who is sitting out the Chiefs game with a slight groin strain.

Marcus said he was going to be sitting down with the new Thames Valley Heartland coaches tonight, Friday, to see what their plans are for the 2020 season.

He’ll be back on Monday morning just after 8.15 am with all the results and other rugby news.To listen to the full report … click play on our podcast link.
