First up Marcus Howie, the Rugby Development Officer with Thames Valley Rugby Football Union, gave us the good news the Kiwi Women’s Sevens team won the latest round in Sydney, beating Canada 33 - 7, while the men got knocked out in the quarterfinals by Fiji unfortunately, 26 - 5.
Round 1 of the Super Rugby got underway on Friday with the Chiefs travelling north to Eden Park to take on the Blues.
Marcus gave us a summary of the match, which the Chiefs won 37 – 29.
The Crusaders showed their young team has got what it takes with a good win over the Waratahs 43 – 25 in Nelson.
The Highlanders had a bye this week, while the Hurricanes unfortunately started their season with a loss.
They traveled to Newlands in South Africa to play the Stormers, losing 27 – 0.Marcus and Brian covered all the games, with some interesting scorelines.
Marcus and Brian Gentil also touched on the Six Nations with wins to Wales over Italy and Ireland beating Scotland, while England suffering a shock loss to France.
They’ll be back with the preview of all the rugby coming up this weekend on Friday morning at 8.15 am.
