The Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew have had a busy couple of days with 11 missions over Wednesday and Thursday, Waitangi DayWestpac 2 visited Great Mercury island, the Pinnacles and Kaitai on Wednesday.

A female patient in her 20’s suffered a fall while walking the Pinnacles and was assisted by Westpac 2 at 2.32 pm. She needed to be winch extracted from the scene and was flown to Waikato Hospital in a minor condition.

The Great Mercury Island call out was to assist a male patient in his 40’s who slipped backwards off a ledge. He was flown to Tauranga Hospital in a minor condition.

Westpac 1 crew were tasked to Kawau Island to assist a female patient in her 70’s who had fallen off a ladder into a water tank while cleaning it on Wednesday. Crew and local fire fighters helped extract her from the water tank and she was taxied by boat to the awaiting Westpac 1 helicopter. She was flown to North Shore Hospital in a moderate condition.

Seven missions were flown yesterday, Waitangi Day.

A Rapid response Vehicle responded to Drury at 2.34 am to assist a male patient in his teens who was one of five occupants of a car that was t-boned. He was initially trapped and was in a serious condition.

Westpac 2 crew flew to Onetangi to assist a female patient in her 20’s in labour at 4.02 am. She was flown to Auckland City Hospital in a moderate condition.

Then at 6.41 am Westpac 2 was off to Mangawhai to assist a male patient in his 60’s who had fallen approximately 3.5 metres off a deck. He was flown to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.

From the hospital, crew were then tasked to Otama to assist a male patient in his 70’s suffering a medical complaint. He was flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

At 4.10 pm Westpac 1 were tasked to Omaha to assist a male patient (age unknown) involved in a motor scooter accident. He was flown to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

Westpac 2 crew were tasked to Port Waikato at 4.53 to assist a male patient in his 20’s whose motorbike had hit a tree. He was flown to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.

At 9.40 pm Westpac 2 flew to Ponui Island to assist a female patient in her 60’s.
