Leak fixed, reservoir filling slowly

Thanks to the community, the Waihi reservoir level is very slowly gaining.

From 11am the level has risen by 1.8%. Please don’t ease back. Use water from your tap for drinking water only – boil water for 3 minutes before drinking. We need people to use water from the tanks as much as possible. We do want to hear from anyone who still hasn’t got water in their taps though. Freephone 0800 734 834, 24/7.

No showers, washing clothes, using dishwasher etc until further notice.

Water tanks are available at the following locations:

Victoria ParkGolden Legacy Centre, Moresby AvenueMorgan Park, Kenny Street carparktanks will be available from 4pm - Salvation army carparkResidents are encouraged to take their containers to fill. It will need to be boiled for 3 minutes if used for drinking, cooking or teeth cleaning. This water can be used without boiling to flush toilets, wash, etc.

Bottled water is still available as mentioned in the earlier article.

Portaloos are being arranged and will be stationed next to Waihi’s public toilets - Victoria Park, Haszard Street and Gilmour Reserve.
