Waihi still low on water - residents asked to boil all tap water for 3 minutes

Free bottled drinking water is available from the Golden Legacy Centre on Moresby Ave, Morgan Park, and the Salvation Army. Four litres per household to begin with. More will be available if needed.

If any Waihi residents are incapable of getting to the collection points, please call council and we will arrange a delivery for you – Free phone 0800 734 834.Tanker water will also be available from the above locations and Victoria Park. Any water taken from the tankers/water stations will need to be boiled (just as a precaution – the water is safe, but the container you use may not be).

Water is flowing again but…

The reservoir will take a few days to recover.

To enable the reservoir to recover we need as little as possible taken out of home supplies. Please avoid flushing toilets. Only use your taps for necessary drinking water or preferable collect bottled water from our water stations.

A precautionary 24 hour boil water notice is in place – PLEASE BOIL ALL TAP WATER FOR 3 MINUTES BEFORE DRINKING

To help save water water pressure throughout the network has been reduced. This means some properties in the higher parts of town may still have no water

Thanks to residents for your understanding while council gets this sorted. It’s all hands to the pump and information will be updated as it becomes available.
