Media Release: Hauraki District Council
Thanks to an outstanding water saving effort by residents over the weekend, the Waihi treated water reservoir is now sitting at more than 50 per cent.
The temporary water tanks that were bought into town last Wednesday will be removed this Wednesday 19 February.
Residents are welcome to take as much as they can to help with watering their gardens.
Remember to bring a container and boil this water for 3 minutes if being used for drinking water or brushing teeth.
The tanks can be found at the Golden Legacy centre, Moresby Avenue, Morgan Park and outside the Salvation Army on Seddon Street.
The Total watering ban for Waihi and Waikino is still in place however, due to the ongoing dry conditions.
