There was plenty to catch up on with Marcus Howie, the Rugby Development Officer with Thames Valley Rugby Football Union, with the Thames Valley Rugby Union AGM this coming Wednesday in Paeroa, which Marcus invited people along to.
He’s also taking some coaching courses next weekend which would be beneficial for coaches heading into the new season.
Brian and Marcus mentioned the referees get together this weekend and they talked about the Under 16 and 18 Thames Valley Invitation Teams games this coming week against the touring Argentinian sides, being played in Waitakaruru.
Then it was on to all the action in Round 4 of the Super Rugby with some great match ups again this week.
The Crusaders are hosting their neighbours the Highlanders with the always hard fought local derby, while the Chiefs take on the Brumbies in Hamilton, with a measles outbreak within the Brumbies quarters. This could change their lineup.
Warren Gatland has made nine changes to his side too, giving some players a rest and others their first run for the season.
The Blues are travelling and come up against the Bulls, who haven’t won so far this season. The Blues on the other hand have shown they can play to win and would like to take these points.
They covered all the other Super Rugby games as well, and Marcus mentioned Black Cap Ross Taylor, who will become the first player to notch up 100 tests in all three forms of the game when he takes the field against India this weekend. We wish him all the best too, that’s one mean feat.
