There were six call outs over the last week that Chief Fire Officer Moe Stevens brought us up to date with this week.
On Wednesday 4 March at 11.30 am the Waihi Fire & Rescue Service helped with a medical assist.
Then on Friday 6 March the siren went off at 8 am and they attended a small fire that had been lit in Martha St.
At 8.30 pm on Friday night they were called out again, this time to a large bonfire lit in a paddock on the Whangamata Rd. The gentleman believed as there had been some rain recently the fire ban would have been lifted.
Moe reiterated that this was not the case and the whole North Island is still under the blanket fire ban.
On Saturday 7 March at about midday they were called out to assist the helicopter landing at Morgan Park.
And on Sunday 8 March the International Academy fire alarm went off which saw the fire and rescue crew head out to Landlyst Rd. Luckily it was a false alarm so they returned to the station.
