Thames Coromandel District Council’s proposal to increase rates by 9.98 per cent and put up some fees and charges for the coming financial year is now open to public feedback until 14 April.
“The costs to maintain our current services have escalated at a much faster rate than estimated when the last Long Term Plan was developed,” says Mayor Sandra Goudie.
“We have now exhausted any other means we have had in the past to offset these costs and now need to increase our rating revenue and increase fees and charges in some areas. We are concerned at the impact this rates increase may have on ratepayers and are committed to looking at options to reduce expenditure as we, over the next 12 months, develop our next Long Term Plan for 2021-2031.”
There are a variety of ways for ratepayers to share their thoughts and suggestions on the proposed rates increase including via an online submission form tcdc.govt.nz/annualplan2020 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
