Scotty Day, the Thames Valley Rugby Football Union Rugby Development Officer, caught up with Brian Gentil with the latest news on the local Thames Valley
H G Leach Senior A and B Competitions, which were due to get underway tomorrow.
Due to the situation with the COVID-19 virus these have been postponed with a tentative start date of April 18 at this stage.
Scott said the junior rugby had also been affected. They were due to get underway on April 4th, but this date has been pushed back and they will hopefully get underway on May 2, just after the school holidays.
The COVID-19 Coronavirus has affected all sports worldwide, including rugby. The Six Nations, World Sevens Series, Women’s Rugby are all waiting to hear what their future is this season Scotty said.
And Brian and Scotty also touched on the tough job for the new All Black Coach, Ian Foster, who has to carry on with preparations for tests which may or may not happen, coming up in just a few months time.
Scotty finished with some good advice with these uncertain times, keep practicing, make sure you adhere to the restrictions that have been put in place, keep honing those ball skills and … keep thinking positively, there’s some great rugby just around the corner.
