Thames Coromandel District Mayor Sandra Goudie joined Brian Gentil on his Breakfast Show this morning for a catch up about how her district and community is managing the unexpected changes caused by COVID-19.
Mayor Sandra explained that kerbside refuse collection will need to be placed inside your recycling wheelie bin and will be collected fortnightly due to a directive from the Ministry of Health which has been done for sensible reasons.
Staying at home was an important message shared.
Things won’t be as convenient or go as smoothly as they normally have which is a consequence of the situation at present.
“We need to be constantly mindful this is not about us, it’s about other people,” Mayor Sandra said.
It is business as unusual at present and is going surprisingly well.
The big message is, Don’t hesitate to reach out to someone if you’re having difficulty. For businesses, don’t leave it too long if you’re starting to find yourself in difficulty - get in touch with somebody because financial packages to support businesses are available, Mayor Sandra said. “Reach out - if you’re having difficulty, reach out.”
Online and customer services are still available and full details about what services can be accessed along with plenty of other helpful information is available via the Thames Coromandel District Council website here https://www.tcdc.govt.nz/
Brian Gentil will be catching up for an update with TCDC Mayor Sandra Goudie each Tuesday just after 9 am on Gold FM.
