Murray and Wendy Sanson are on duty at the Waihi Salvation Army on Seddon Street preparing food parcels to send out to those who need a little kindness and care during the COVID-19 lockdown.
We’ve noticed Murray arriving on the job each day so Brian Gentil took a walk up Seddon Street from our studios to see how things have been going locally.
The Waihi Salvation Army is helping with food deliveries to those who can’t shop for groceries.
The elderly and immune, compromised or sick are able to shop online for essentials and the Salvation Army volunteers pick up and drop off the groceries in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Ivan from the Waihi Salvation Army OpShop and Jed Moriarty from OceanaGold’s Mines Rescue team were giving a helping hand when Brian Gentil called in to report on what services are available in Waihi.
Anyone needing assistance is welcome to call the Salvation Army Murray Sanson said.
The Waihi Salvation Army is also in need of donations to buy food for their food bank.
The number is 07 863 7812 or text 027 2636 736 to find out what services can be provided and what is needed.
